Services

At Imperial Hardwood Flooring, we not only provide our customers with premier hardwood, laminate and cork flooring products, but we also provide the following services to install and maintain the floor of your dreams!

Refinishing and/or Repairing for Older Hardwood Floors - Whether you need the old fashioned style 3/8”X1 ½” or 1 ¾” in oak or maple, or the more traditional ¾” thick X3”, 4” or 5” wide boards, we can help you with your renovation needs. Most sizes are available in both unfinished and prefinished.

On-Site Finishing of your New Hardwood Floors - Sometimes it’s best to install the floor unfinished and then sand and varnish it once it’s been laid. Some of the advantages to this option is to have a floor with a completely smooth finish, without the bevels found on the prefinished styles; and some of the wider plank-look floors (5-7” wide) are not available prefinished.

Replacing your Worn Out Stair Treads - Our trained staff can make your stairs look like brand new again. All of our stair treads are custom manufactured in our shop to your specifications, size and colour.

Custom Work - We can also manufacture custom moldings and trim to match any décor.

Repair Scratches & Stains with Advice from Imperial Hardwood Flooring - Caring for your wood floors depends largely on the finish. When removing stains from any wood surface, you should begin on the outer edge of the stain then work towards the middle. Wood flooring manufacturer’s cleaning, repair, and finish products should be used.

Routine Maintenance - Keeping your wood flooring in great shape requires just a little regular maintenance. Sweeping with a soft bristle broom or vacuuming with a soft floor attachment is a quick and easy way to keep your floors dirt and dust free. Cleaning your wood floors with professional cleaning products is also a must. At Imperial Hardwood Flooring, we sell and recommend Bona® Hardwood Floor Care Products.

Some tips to help you reduce maintenance and maintain your floor’s beauty include:

  • Use only products recommended for wood floors. Sheet vinyl or tile floor care products may cause wood floors to become slippery and dull.
  • Avoid using Murphy’s Oil Soap. It will leave milky white residue that’s difficult to remove.
  • To prevent scratching, use throw rugs to keep girt, dirt, and other debris from being tracked on your wood floors.
  • Standing water can dull finishes, damage the wood, and leave discoloring residue. Do not wet-mop wood floors.
  • Clean up all spills immediately with a dampened towel.
  • Protect against scuffs and scratches with soft plastic or fabric-faced glides for legs of furniture. When moving furniture, make sure to pick it up completely. Do not slide it across the floor.
  • Prevent dents on the surface of your hardwood by avoiding walking on your floors with cleats, sports shoes, and high heels.
  • Keep pets’ nails trimmed and use mats under their eating areas to avoid contact with spills.
  • In the kitchen, place an area rug under the sink to catch spills.
  • During the winter months, use a humidifier to prevent gaps and cracks in the wood from forming.
